ECC Profiles: The Republic of Doyle’s Allan Hawco

If you’ve watched the CBC lately, or taken the Toronto subway, you’ve seen The Republic of Doyle. The network is going all out to raise awareness of its new prime-time crime caper. This heavily-promoted comedy-drama isn’t just hype, though: it’s living up to critical and audience expectations (yes, even earning praise from the Globe and Mail’s exacting TV critic and Doyle namesake, John Doyle).

Atlantic Canadian Olympic Kitchen Party

Arthur Spray visits the Atlantic Canada House on Vancouver’s Granville Island at the Olympics.

If there is something that can be said about Atlantic Canadians, it is that we throw one hell of a party, and everyone wants to come. What better place to show the rest of the country our hospitality than at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, BC, as the entire world comes to our doorstep to see who we are.

Yaffle search engine connecting Memorial University to the world

What is a Yaffle? In Newfoundland English it means an armload of sticks, salt cod, or anything else for that matter. For the best part of last year, however, the word has been synonymous with the armload of research the Memorial University of Newfoundland has made searchable and accessible to the world through their “Yaffle” search engine.
