CBC news personality Ian Hanomansing is flying in from Vancouver to speak at The Celebrating Communities Conference and Awards, September 23-25 in Truro. The event showcases the achievement of communities and people from around the province.

It is an excellent opportunity to connect with the community organizations and volunteers who make Nova Scotia thrive and prosper. The conference and awards showcase how communities and government are working together to grow community capacity and foster innovation.

The 2009 Conference and Awards, Growing Together, will be held at the Best Western Trade and Convention Centre in Truro. Held in partnership with the Colchester Regional Development Authority, the conference is expected to draw upwards of 300 participants from across the province.

Ian Hanomansing will be the Emcee for the Awards Gala and will also be a Key Note speaker.

This year's event also features a community market showcasing local foods and artisans; a dynamic cultural celebration; "Deconstructing Dinner", the Edible School Yard, fun & informative field trips, and the Lieutenant Governors Community Spirit awards banquet.
