Halifax singer Jon Mullane makes a 'Shift' with new CD

Canadian multi-talented musician Jon Mullane unveils his most accomplished powerhouse rock record to date. Shift, Mullane’s sophomore album will be released through The Orchard Distribution Group, with the first of several special CD release events slated for Friday, February 26, 2010 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The event will be in conjunction with Molsen Atlantic’s Give’ER’ fundraiser series, this one in support of Canada Winter Games 2011.

Shift is the propulsive new album from Canadian rocker Jon Mullane, a powerfully driving collection of songs that captivates you from the start and never lets go. Following on the heels of his acclaimed solo debut, The Source, this new evolution in the musical legacy of Jon Mullane finds him mining territory that can only be described as “retro-modern.” The album builds upon the genre-defying diversity Jon has always brought to his music. Singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist, Mullane combines irresistibly catchy melodies with driving rock lines that find their way into sports arenas and events because of their power to inspire. While Shift's production and songwriting are utterly contemporary, Mullane’s collaboration with producer Creighton Doane is firmly rooted in infectious ’80s riffs, grooves and hooks. Jon describes their union as "…two 80’s boys channeling their inner synth-rock gods…!!"
Shift is that rarest of albums – one which grabs you full force, whether you’re driving down the highway, working out ferociously or just in for experiencing one dynamic ride. A cohesive collection that, according to Mullane, is intended to be a thoroughly energizing and engaging listen. “Shift continues where my last album, The Source, left off – a shift in momentum, a shift in direction, and a shift in energy”, declares Mullane.
The release was preceded by four charting hits in Canada all included on the album: “Go the Distance”, “Change Your Life”, “Got It Goin’ On”, and “Make You Move” (which bookends the CD with two distinctly different mixes). “Make You Move” saw heavy chart action and was featured in NBC’s international promotional campaign for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and was the official theme for the World Canoe ’09 Championships. The album’s introspective ballad, “The One That Got Away” is released as the first single in 2010 and has garnered worthy comparisons to the likes of The Fray, Coldplay and One Republic, and is being touted by radio programmers as Mullane’s best work to date.
Packaged in an eco-friendly sleeve with additional enhanced audio & video content, Shift is ready to take you on one great ride. Hold on and get ready to be driven to new heights. The time has arrived for the world to Shift...
